The Chonqing Library is a stunning 540,000 square feet of urban complex, evolving from the central idea of expressing freedom and the importance of knowledge. It is sheathed almost entirely in glass, echoing the transparency of the functions inside – denoting that knowledge and ideas must be shared. Designed by Perkins Eastman Architects with ALT working as the facade consultant, the glass facade was designed to mitigate heat and glare, with text comprising quotes of famous scholars beautifully layered over them.
