The Guangxi Airport Management Group developed the Nanning International Airport Terminal 2, which serves the capital’s main gateway for global access. Designed by KPF and Beijing Institute of Architectural Design with ALT as the facade consultant, the new terminal building provides a train system connecting to the four airport terminals and extends like mechanical airplane wings. The dome-shaped main hall is perhaps the most notable feature of this project because aside from its diagrid roof structure which provides structural efficiency and aesthetics, a curved glass cable wall system highlights the complexity of its facade. Completed in 2014, the Nanning International Airport Terminal 2 caters to millions of passengers annually for both domestic and international flights.
